Puli pilot and emergency rescue hero in NYTimes

Ah Jun holding the baby
Old-time Puli pilot in the news for his role rescuing trapped villagers down in Pingtung. Ah Jun was very nearly killed in the 921 earthquake, his home literally falling down around his ears as he dragged his family to safety. Since then he’s overcome a long bout of deep depression to become a professional rescue worker, owning a specially-trained German Shepard that leads rescuers to buried survivors. He has worked on rescue efforts now in several countries. It’s especially fitting that he is involved now in efforts to open up our long-time crosscountry goal of Liukuei.

This is one of those people I’m very proud to call my friend.
