What do you need to be able to fly successfully and safely? At a bare minimum;
paraglider, harness, reserve
parachute, two-way radio, helmet.
You will also want to have a vario to optimize your climbing
ability, boots to reinforce your landing
gear, and a flightsuit to stay cosy
at cloudbase. Then there are a few other accessories
that will make flying easier, more comfortable or convenient.
We are proud to act as distributors for some fine suppliers such as Advance,
Paratech and Renschler.
There is a surprisingly wide choice of brands available here: Good, Bad and Ugly.
It has to be understood that all aspects of a glider's design are the result of some trade-offs. We know that there is always another glider which has a tiny advantage in lift/drag ratio, or one with a slightly higher top speed, but what did they have to compromise to get it? What's the point of that great top speed if the glider doesn't turn? So you have awesome L/D in a straight line, but you sink like a rock in turns... Sure, your glider was cheap, but it's ready for duty as a shower curtain after a hundred hours. Although Advance and Paratech's design philosphies differ in certain areas, they both offer an extremely well balanced product line.
| Advance is known the world over as the "Rolls-Royce of paragliders" for a level of quality and refinement that others can't seem to match. Find out why. | ![]() |

Paratech has quickly reinvented itself since coming under new management in 2003. They have a new designer who is one of a tiny handful in the business with a background in aerospace engineering and have moved production to another facility in order to meet their quality goals. The new models have gone from strength to strength and 'Peace of Mind' is their new motto. The gliders are focused on providing a safe, fun, comfortable flying experience while offering competitive performance. Look inside, and see for yourself. |
| Your harness is much more than just an attachment to the glider, it's the best part of the control system. Add in the functions of storage, a home for your rescue system, protection for your back, and you see why it's such an important part of your kit. Each manufacturer has his own design philosophy and style, so look under the paraglider pages for more info. |
